We would like to welcome you to the 33RD Wisconsin Society for Respiratory  Care Annual Convention. The WSRC invites all Respiratory Therapist and health care professionals to join us on April 29.30, May 1, 2003.This years program will address areas of health care that will be an interest to all of us. So come and meet old friends, update your knowledge and have fun with us.

General Information
Registration fees are listed on the registration form. Only members who have either paid their current dues or who join the AARC at the convention will be admitted at the member rate. All others will pay the non-member rate. RT students must provide their Instructor’s  signature on the registration form. Individuals who register past the pre- registration deadline or register at the convention will be subject to the $25 late fee.

New Members:
If you wish to join the WSRC/AARC please include the $75.00 membership dues ($50 for students) with your registration fee.  Membership dues and registration fees are both payable to the WSRC.

Smoking Policy
In view of the AARC commitment to health care and the recognized hazards of smoking, the WSRC asks all smokers to refrain from doing so at all WSRC events.

Classified Advertisement And Message Board
We will provide a classified ad board for employment opportunities and general info, free of charge.

Spouse Package:
The spouse package entitles any non-RCP spouse to attend lectures, visit the exhibit hall and enjoy entertainment activities.

Board of Directors Meeting
The BOD will meet Monday evening April 28 at 6:00 PM in room 212.

Past President Breakfast
A breakfast for all WSRC past presidents will be held Wednesday April 30  from 8:00am-9:00am 
in the Board Room.

This year’s exhibits will be held on Wednesday, April 30th .  Exhibit time is from 1:30pm to 4:30pm.  Hors d’oeuvres will be served during the exhibit time.  This will be your opportunity to see the latest invasive and non-invasive technology and meet with representatives of the leading companies and manufactures.  Don’t forget to ask the exhibitors to stamp your “BINGO” card for prize drawings will be held at 4:15pm in the Exhibit Hall. You must be present to win.

WSRC Business Luncheon
This is an opportunity to meet the former and incoming WSRC Board members and officers.  This is a casual luncheon provided free of charge to all attendees and exhibitors. The Therapist of the Year Award, Membership, Scholarship, and Literary awards will be announced during the Business Luncheon. April 30, 12:00pm - 1:40pm

Sputum Bowl
Competition will begin at 7:30 pm on Tuesday April 29.  Two divisions are available:  Student and Practitioner.  The winning practitioner team will be awarded $1000.00 to represent Wisconsin at the National Sputum Bowl Competition in Las Vegas.  The winning student team will have their registration fee returned to them in cold hard cash the night of the event.  All participants will receive a participation award.  For more information call or email either:  Lynn Smyrk (608) 782-7300 ext. 53843 ( or Bob Milisch (608) 785-9244 (

RT and Student of the Year Awards
The RT and The Student of the Year Awards will be presented at the Business Luncheon. The Winner in each category will receive $100.00.

The Winners will be nominated by Active WSRC/AARC members and Instructors in Respiratory Programs. The Awards are designed to recognize individuals who have contributed to Respiratory Care through outstanding achievement. Awards Sponsored by: Medical Equipment Specialists and VCM/Gateway

Door Prizes
This year the WSRC will present special door prizes at the adjournment on Thursday, May 1st, 12:00-???.  You will need to turn in your name badges at the last lecture and be present to win.  So don’t miss the opportunity to become a real winner!

He will be speaking on Demonstrating the value the Respiratory Therapist brings to all venues of healthcare and explore the changes that reimbursement has brought to the current health care delivery systems. Peter Boney- Director of Human Resources for Waukesha Memorial Hospital in Waukesha, WI. Pete will present information on how to get your foot in the door for new employees. He will also explore how technology has changed the process of looking for and landing that great job. Pete speaks at the annual job form in Milwaukee. Pete brings to us over 20 years experience.

Dr.Jamovich- Section Chief of the Division of Pediatric Critical Care @ Hope Children’s Hospital in Oak Lawn, IL. He will speak on Advances in Pediatric Acute Asthma Care. Dr. Jamovich will present some of the latest research in asthma care and look at current treatment and trends.

John Walsh, RCP, CRT- Clinical specialist for Vapotherm who has worked at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, IL doing research for the latest technology in oxygen administration. (Powerpoint & lavalier microphone)

Jacque Coons BS, RRT, Quality Assurance Specialist working for Aurora Hospital Systems. Jacque will share her experiences working in the trenches with the multidiscipline team and JACHO on quality health care issues. Jacque will explore where Respiratory Care fits in healthcare delivery.  

Vicki Verhasselt, CPCU “Voices of Success” There are three keys to becoming successful in life, on and off the job. Vicki will inspire us to focus on three key areas to be successful at everything they do. After attending this program, WSRC members will never hear the word can’t without thinking about her unique definition of the word. Vicki is a successful salesperson and an experienced business manager who has been faced with company reorganization and the challenges of hiring and firing. Her business experience includes: management, sales, training, insurance, information systems implementation and administration, and developing Voices of Success.
